After 3 extremely productive days of SL and a weather day off, everyone was recharged and ready to rip in GS. The Midwest contingent of racers at Mt. Hood increased as we were joined by TR2 and Team Gilboa as they enjoyed their first day free-skiing on the snowfield.
The first courses of the day were a bit challenging as the older FIS skiers were settling in on the new length and turn radius skis, combined with variable snow conditions due to a light coating of snow that collected in pockets on the snowfield.
The morning flew by and the only reset of the day took place at 10:00 AM. While the campers were hard at it so were their parents. Several of the "race mom's" hiked up from the Timberline Lodge to the top of the snowfield to take in the action.
The athletes trained right up to 12:30 and then headed down for the day. Saturday will be another day of GS for Sailer Camp and more GS free-skiing for both TR2 and Team Gilboa. As such we spent the afternoon co-ordinating equipment requests for all 3 camps.
The evening concluded with our final camp meeting including recognition of the coaches, camp awards and a very entertaining "talent show".
